Atlantic Coast Conference 2022 Preseason Power Rankings

FSU football enters the 2022 season which is expected to finish fifth in the ACC Atlantic Division. The ACC has four teams ranked in the top 25 of the preseason:

  • Clemson-No. 4
  • NC State-No. 13
  • Miami-No. 16
  • Wake Forest-No. 22

The Noles received zero votes in the preseason AP poll and only received one vote in the preseason coaches poll. I would not expect national voters to know the ins and outs of the programs and whether or not they are improving.

They depend a lot on perception, and that’s why you see a team like Miami ranked No. 16 when they finished 7-6 last year, and the only thing that’s changed is their staff. coaches. The ACC has four levels of teams. Clemson is the top dog, then a few teams have the potential to be good.

A few teams can surprise people, and the rest will be terrible. Here are my ACC Power rankings by division and then overall:

ACC Atlantic

  • Clemson
  • NC status
  • USF
  • Louisville
  • WakeForest
  • Boston College
  • Syracuse

Coastal ACC

  • Pittsburgh
  • Miami
  • Virginia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia Tech
  • Georgia Technology
  • duke

Overall power ranking

  • Clemson
  • NC status
  • Pittsburgh
  • USF
  • Louisville
  • Miami
  • WakeForest
  • Boston College
  • Virginia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia Tech
  • Syracuse
  • Georgia Technology
  • duke

The top six teams overall are expected or have the potential to win eight games. Some have more favorable schedules than others (cough, Miami), and Wake Forest would be a contender to win almost eight games if Sam Hartman weren’t going to run out of time due to everything he had on the plan. of health.

However, the rest of the ACC isn’t going to be very good at all. Boston College can’t stop the run and will have an all-new offensive line. Virginia’s defense is terrible, and they have a new coaching staff, but they’re turning over their starting QB.

North Carolina couldn’t win with arguably the best QB in their history, and their defense is terrible.

Virginia Tech has new staff. Syracuse is coming back a lot on defense, but their offense probably continues to be terrible and they’re playing a bruiser’s schedule. Georgia Tech and Duke will be awful.
