PA plane crashes and disappears off the Atlantic coast

READING, PA – The United States Coast Guard is looking for a small plane in Reading, Berks County that went missing after crashing into the ocean on Sunday night.

The white and tan Piper 28 plane crashed around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday off the coast of Massachusetts, Coast Guard officials said.

The location was near Cape Cod, about 3.5 miles from Nauset Beach. The pilot was the only person on board.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane departed from Reading Regional Airport and was on its way to Chatham Municipal Airport.

The last signal from the aircraft was at 6:49 p.m., descending to 4000 feet per minute.
